Food Pantry

The Helping Hands Food Pantry is a non-denominational community service that is open on Tuesday from 10am to 2pm, for Port Aransas residences only.  The Helping Hands Food Pantry is a welcome service in our community that has made a difference in so many lives.   Many times, in addition to the food that is offered, it just takes a kind word and a couple of minutes to listen to a person to make a difference in their lives.

In 2006 the Helping Hands Food Pantry had 205 households with 1484 people registered.

In 2007 there were 853 households with 2215 people registered.

Over the last two years volunteers served 3200 hours in the Food Pantry.

The majority of the food is purchased from the Corpus Christi Food Bank for pennies on the pound.  When the Corpus Christi Food Bank is low on food the Helping Hands Pantry relies on donations from the community, and the Family Center IGA.  Volunteers are always needed and appreciated.
